At Storts Family Dentistry, our dedicated dental team is always ready to help you achieve and maintain a healthy, beautiful smile. We know that a fear of dental work is common, and we don't want that to prevent you from coming to see us. We take every measure possible to ensure that each patient has a comfortable experience and leaves satisfied with our staff and the treatment they received.

Why Should I Visit the Dentist Regularly?

Even if you aren't aware of any dental concerns, it's important to see a dentist to maintain the health of your teeth and gums. While the frequency of visits depends on the patient, an appointment every six months is the typical recommendation. The main reason for these appointments is for preventive care. No matter how much you brush and floss, the removal of plaque or tartar is critical to keeping your smile healthy. Also, it allows your dentist to recognize and diagnose signs of tooth decay and disease, such as periodontal disease and oral cancer, so that they may be addressed right away.

What Should I Expect at My First Appointment?

Regular dental visits involve minimal discomfort and usually last no longer than an hour, depending on the treatments your dentist recommends. They may include:

- Cleaning: A hygienist will use special instruments to scrape away the plaque and tartar below the gum line and then polish and floss your teeth.

- Exam: A dentist will examine your teeth, jaws, and gums for signs of potential concerns.

- X-rays: You may receive X-rays so your dentist can see what isn't visible on the surface.
