While many people view orthodontics as a way to simply straighten teeth for esthetic purposes, braces go well beyond just alignment of teeth to create a healthier, more functional smile in both adult and pediatric patients.
We provide both traditional metal braces, and clear aligners like Invisalign. There are pros and cons to each system, and we individualize treatment to meet each patient’s specific needs and desire
Storts Family Dentistry works with patients of all ages to create smiles that last a lifetime. Come in today to have your consultation for orthodontics!
According to the American Association of Orthodontists, all children should receive an orthodontic evaluation by the age of seven. We assess our patients at every routine cleaning and exam. These evaluations are painless and give parents a general idea of tooth placement and any problems with overbites, underbites, crossbites, habits, crowding, or spacing of permanent teeth.
At a young age, monitoring and routine dental care are the most common recommendations. However, early evaluations are imperative for treating certain orthodontic problems. Early treatment can range from retainers to “early” braces, with a goal to correct either habits or problems that may interfere with the eruption of the permanent teeth.
Common Orthodontic Services
To most people orthodontics means “metal” braces, and for many that is what is needed. However, modern advances in orthodontics has allowed different appliances such as clear aligners such as Invisalign to be used as an alternative. Both are great treatment options to align teeth and correct orthodontic problems. We recommend a full evaluation to determine which treatment option is best for each patient.
Orthodontic treatment can be started at any stage of life. Orthodontics is not just for teenagers! We have many adult patients that are ready to get the smile they have always wanted. Orthodontics can also be used in conjunction with other dental procedures to help with restorative options or tooth replacement. We treat our patients individually and comprehensively to achieve an esthetic and functional smile!
At Storts Family Dentistry, patient comfort and care are of the utmost importance. We know that your smile can bring great joy or huge anxiety, so we offer many options to restore our patients' smiles.
Dental Implants: Am I a Candidate?
A dental implant is made of titanium metal and replaces the root of a missing tooth. A crown is then placed on the implant to replace the missing tooth. Implants are permanent, non –removable, and most closely replicate a natural tooth.
Dental implants can also be used to hold in dentures. Loose dentures are the #1 complaint of people wearing dentures, and implant retained dentures are a great option to help stabilize dentures to make chewing and speaking more comfortable.
First, patients receive a full dental exam that includes both x-rays and dental impressions to determine if there is enough bone for an implant to be placed. The implant is then surgically placed using only local anesthesia. After a period of healing, the crown or denture is made to fit onto the implant.
Our dentists work hard to create natural smiles that restore function and esthetics. Let us know how we can help you achieve your smile!
The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that a child see a dentist by the time the first baby tooth erupts, or by their 1st We see kids of all ages! The first visit is usually a “happy visit” to meet the dentist, review diet and oral hygiene instructions, and familiarize your child with the dental office. We recommend dental cleanings and check-ups twice a year.
We do all procedures on kids, including fillings, crowns, extractions, and orthodontics. We utilize nitrous oxide or “laughing gas” and oral sedation for anxious or apprehensive patients.

Root canals are “deep fillings” that go all the way down the roots of a tooth. They are performed if a tooth breaks or a cavity gets to the nerve, and the nerve is infected and must be cleaned out to avoid or take care of an infection. Sometimes this procedure requires multiple appointments to complete the root canal, and many times they require an additional restoration like a crown after healed.
If you have a toothache or broken tooth, you may need a root canal! We offer emergency appointments, call us today!
We offer several different options of whitening treatments including in-office ZOOM bleaching and at-home bleaching trays. The best way to maintain a white smile is with regular cleanings too.

Routine Prevention Care
In dentistry, preventing problems is our goal. Our hygienists take excellent care of our patients with both routine and “deep” cleanings. Their goal is to help keep teeth and gums healthy by removing plaque and calculus or “tartar” that regularly develops. Good home care is an essential part of maintaining a healthy smile, but even the best brusher and flosser misses spots, and that is where our hygienists help. They provide a thorough and complete cleaning both above and below the gum tissue to keep our patient’s smiles healthy.
Our doctors provide routine care also and recommend dental exams twice a year. They monitor for gum problems and cavities that when caught and treated early are a much more minor problem than if left to turn into a bigger problem. For example, a small cavity may require only a filling, but if left untreated could lead to a toothache requiring a root canal or extraction. Our goal is to see our patients regularly to keep their gums and teeth from having those major problems.
