While many people view orthodontics as a way to simply straighten teeth for esthetic purposes, braces go well beyond just alignment of teeth to create a healthier, more functional smile in both adult and pediatric patients.
We provide both traditional metal braces, and clear aligners like Invisalign. There are pros and cons to each system, and we individualize treatment to meet each patient’s specific needs and desires.
Storts Family Dentistry works with patients of all ages to create smiles that last a lifetime. Come in today to have your consultation for orthodontics!
According to the American Association of Orthodontists, all children should receive an orthodontic evaluation by the age of seven. We assess our patients at every routine cleaning and exam. These evaluations are painless and give parents a general idea of tooth placement and any problems with overbites, underbites, crossbites, habits, crowding, or spacing of permanent teeth.
At a young age, monitoring and routine dental care are the most common recommendations. However, early evaluations are imperative for treating certain orthodontic problems. Early treatment can range from retainers to “early” braces, with a goal to correct either habits or problems that may interfere with the eruption of the permanent teeth.
To most people orthodontics means “metal” braces, and for many that is what is needed. However, modern advances in orthodontics has allowed different appliances such as clear aligners such as Invisalign to be used as an alternative. Both are great treatment options to align teeth and correct orthodontic problems. We recommend a full evaluation to determine which treatment option is best for each patient.
Orthodontic treatment can be started at any stage of life. Orthodontics is not just for teenagers! We have many adult patients that are ready to get the smile they have always wanted. Orthodontics can also be used in conjunction with other dental procedures to help with restorative options or tooth replacement. We treat our patients individually and comprehensively to achieve an esthetic and functional smile!

Tooth loss affects many adults, and they often feel embarrassed about the appearance of their teeth, in addition to having trouble eating certain foods. At Storts Family Dentistry, we offer dental implants as a permanent solution for missing teeth.
Until recently, missing teeth were often treated with partial dentures, or bridges, which tend to be noticeably different from the rest of your teeth. Today, the American Dental Association recommends dental implants, which offer a permanent result that looks and feels more natural. An implant is a metal replacement for the root of the missing tooth. It is inserted into the gums to provide a sturdy foundation for a crown, or false tooth, which is attached to the implant to fill the gap.
The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that a child see a dentist by the time the first baby tooth erupts, or by their 1st birthday. We see kids of all ages! The first visit is usually a “happy visit” to meet the dentist, review diet and oral hygiene instructions, and familiarize your child with the dental office. We recommend dental cleanings and check-ups twice a year.
We do all procedures on kids, including fillings, crowns, extractions, and orthodontics. We utilize nitrous oxide or “laughing gas” and oral sedation for anxious or apprehensive patients.

We are proud to offer “same-day” crowns and bridges utilizing CEREC technology. Gone are the days of temporary crowns, goopy impressions, and multiple appointments! With our CEREC technology we can take a digital scanned “impression” and make the crown the same day. This saves our patients time and frustration!

Root canals are “deep fillings” that go all the way down the roots of a tooth. They are performed if a tooth breaks or a cavity gets to the nerve, and the nerve is infected and must be cleaned out to avoid or take care of an infection. Sometimes this procedure requires multiple appointments to complete the root canal, and many times they require an additional restoration like a crown, after healing.
If you have a toothache or broken tooth, you may need a root canal! We offer emergency appointments, call us today!
In dentistry, preventing problems is our goal. Our hygienists take excellent care of our patients with both routine and “deep” cleanings. Their goal is to help keep teeth and gums healthy by removing plaque and calculus or “tartar” that regularly develops. Good home care is an essential part of maintaining a healthy smile, but even the best brusher and flosser misses spots, and that is where our hygienists help. They provide a thorough and complete cleaning both above and below the gum tissue to keep our patient’s smiles healthy.
Our doctors provide routine care also and recommend dental exams twice a year. They monitor for gum problems and cavities that when caught and treated early are a much more minor problem than if left to turn into a bigger problem. For example, a small cavity may require only a filling, but if left untreated could lead to a toothache requiring a root canal or extraction. Our goal is to see our patients regularly to keep their gums and teeth from having those major problems.
